ETHICS, ENVIRONMENT AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE ANIMATION LOVE, DEATH & ROBOTS

This essay analyzes the bioethical dilemma posed by the pursuit of the longevity of
human life through the episode Extermination Squad (Episode 3, Season 2) of the series Love,
Death & Robots (2019). The episode explores the profound social inequalities associated with
planetary limits, which emerged with humans' conquest of eternal life. Through an approach to
legal culture related to the environment as a fundamental human right, the analysis highlights
how the pursuit of longevity is perceived in the episode with the potential to create drastic social
divisions that are not sustainable from the point of view of the planet's sustaining capacities. It
is concluded that the narrative contains an ethical reflection on scientific development and the
life-death binomial, where both can, under certain conditions, constitute a challenge to human
rights and environmental law
