We will approach in this article about the biography of the author Paulo Bonavides, a jurist
with great national prominence, being considered one of the great constitutionalists of our
country. Paulo Bonavides played important roles in the academic area, teaching at the Federal
University of Ceará and also a member of several boards and coordinations in Universities in
the area of Constitutional Law. His contribution to the legal and academic environment has
resulted in several decorations, one of which is the Rui Barbosa Medal of the Brazilian Bar
Association. Paulo Bonavides is the maximum expression of legitimacy and the embryonic
formation of the rule of conduct that prides the civic feeling of the nation. He is a confessed
admirer of Rui Barbosa as a builder and consolidator of Constitutional Law among us. But it
is possible that he owes the root of his passion for the democratic order to Rousseau.
