Comparação entre Indicadores de Gestão de Resíduos na Perspectiva das Cidades Inteligentes e Economia Circular
Keywords:

To address the socioeconomic and environmental challenges of urban areas, governments have been urged to invest in more efficient development. In this context, various models for rethinking urban sustainability emerge, aiming to provide guidelines that assist in addressing environmental issues. The objective of this study is to deepen the understanding of the concepts of Smart City (CI) and Circular Economy (EC), as well as to conduct a comparative analysis of how these concepts address issues related to waste management in urban centers. For this analysis, the indicators from the latest edition (2023) of the Connected Smart Cities (CSC) ranking by Urban Systems and Necta were used, as well as the indicators from the Girard and Nocca study conducted in 2019. Although the results show a greater affinity of the EC with the theme, the importance of integrating circularity and urban intelligence for a more effective and sustainable management of urban waste is highlighted, providing guidance for policymakers and decision-makers.
