Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the possible influence of organizational learning on university quality. For this purpose, a qualitative study was carried out and 10 senior managers of a Chilean university rated with a level of excellence by the National Accreditation Commission were interviewed. The information collected was coded, analyzed and interpreted, taking into account key elements of the interviews to identify the main findings on the relationship between the two variables. The results indicate that, in the university analyzed, the academic environment has undergone significant improvements in recent years. In addition, information and knowledge acquisition systems are considered essential to achieve systematic organizational learning and improve institutional quality, while organizational memory is fundamental for the qualitative improvement of the institution. It is concluded that the improvement of the university is closely linked to the learning that the institution has experienced in a process of continuous and systematic growth.
