Abstract

Knowing the soil moisture conditions in different volumes of rain in clayey and sandy soil conditions, allows for planning and actions aimed at environmental conservation and as agricultural planning. Therefore, this work aimed to evaluate soil moisture as a function of rainfall volume in different textural classes in a grazing environment in the Cerrado. In each area, soil hydraulic conductivity was chosen, adding volumes equivalent to 5, 10, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 mm of water. For physical analysis and gravimetric moisture, trenches were dug and undisturbed soil removal at depths of 0-10, 10-20, 20-40 cm. There was an increase in soil moisture as a function of rainfall. There was an increase in soil moisture as a function of rainfall up to 60 cm deep. Sandy-textured soil has a shorter infiltration time and the clayey one conducts water deeper, due to its greater total soil porosity (0,52 m3 m-3) compared to sandy soil (0,40 m3 m-3).
