Abstract

Learning in Genetics is a process that must be carried out based on the use of strategies that contribute to the effective acquisition of knowledge. In this context, the performance of teachers becomes an essential factor so that differentiated methodologies are incorporated into the teaching process, which must occur with the participation of students, who will contribute to identify their feasibility and application. The objective of the work was to identify a perception presented by the students regarding the learning process in Genetics in high school and higher education. For this, a descriptive research was carried out with 40 students of the Biological Sciences Degree course at the Faculty of Education, Sciences and Letters of Iguatu/State University of Ceará. Half of the public were students in the 1st semester, who started the recent high school initiation, originated information related to this level of education. The others were students from the 5th semester, who had studied Genetics in the 4th semester and presented information related to their learning in higher education. The data were collected through the application of a questionnaire, being later transformed into percentages and presented in the form of graphs. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that learning in Genetics is a process that must be strengthened by changes in the way of teaching, incorporating into this differentiated and active methodologies, which must be carried out based on the perception of students at different levels of education. teaching.
