PERSPECTIVE OF PERMANENCE IN THE FIELD - STUDY OF RURAL YOUNG PEOPLE IN GOIANESIA / GOIÁS

Abstract

In the coming years with the global demographic explosion, the world population in 2050 is expected to reach the level of nine and a half billion people according to the FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization). Brazil has a special vocation for agriculture, due to climatic conditions, water availability and territorial extension. It is necessary to anticipate and prepare for the demand for food that will come, and with the emptying of the field in recent decades, there is a concern with the labor in the field for future years. The present research was carried out with rural youths from 15 to 24 years of high school in the city of Goianésia, state of Goiás. 10 boys and 10 girls were interviewed with a semi-structured interview questionnaire, answers were obtained to open and closed questions, where he sought to find out whether or not there is an incentive for the family to continue in agricultural activities, which factors are favorable and unfavorable to staying in the countryside, which dreams the young people want for the future of their lives, among other questions. In the survey it was found that 70% of the boys who live in the rural area do not intend to continue in agricultural activities and the rate among women was even higher, 90%, which evidenced the masculinization process in the rural area. It was also evident that the majority of the family does not encourage young people to stay in rural activities, on the contrary, they motivate them to pursue a more lucrative and less painful profession than the work that is done in the countryside. It was found that 30% of these can continue in activities if there is better income and more entertainment and technology in the field.
